Herrison Hall is the village hall for Charlton Down. It was built in 1895, originally as the recreation hall for the County Asylum.
The village of Charlton Down is three miles in the Sherborne direction from Dorchester, between the A352 and the ‘Alternative route for light vehicles’ road to Sherborne which bypasses Cerne Abbas.
The Hall is in the village centre just down the slope in front of the well-lit Londis shop.
By road: Follow the road signs to Charlton Down/Forston clinic, then follow the yellow Artsreach signs to the hall. The route 7 bus service from Dorchester finishes at 6pm and does not run on Sundays or Bank Holidays.
By rail: Dorchester South and Dorchester West railway stations are 4 miles distant.
Car parking is in the village square or on adjoining roads. The hall does not have any allocated parking but a few spaces can be reserved for disabled drivers/passengers provided advance arrangements have been made.
